The BE driving license, also known as a large trailer driving license, enables you to drive a trailer or semi-trailer with a permissible total weight of up to 3,500 kilograms. In contrast to the small trailer driving license B96, with which the trailer may weigh a maximum of 750 kilograms, the BE category allows you to move a heavier trailer. The prerequisite for acquiring the large trailer driving license for cars is a category B driving license, as the towing vehicle must correspond to category B. Theoretical training and therefore a theoretical test are not required to obtain a category BE driving license. However, practical training and a practical test are mandatory.
